Referral and Third-Party Disclosure

Japan Medical helps international patients identify and communicate with healthcare providers in Japan. This disclosure explains how those providers remain independent and how commercial or coordination relationships may exist.

Independent providersHospitals, clinics, physicians, laboratories, and other providers remain responsible for their own services.
No medical recommendationAn introduction does not mean Japan Medical has determined that a treatment is appropriate for a specific patient.
Commercial transparencyJapan Medical may receive administrative, coordination, marketing, or referral-related fees from certain providers.

Independent Medical Providers

Clinical responsibility remains independent

Medical staff Independent providers are responsible for the qualifications, supervision, and conduct of their medical staff.
Clinical decisions Diagnosis, treatment selection, contraindications, treatment protocols, and follow-up decisions are made by qualified healthcare professionals.
Informed consent The provider is responsible for explaining material risks, expected benefits, uncertainties, alternatives, and consent requirements.
Facilities and safety The provider is responsible for its facilities, clinical procedures, infection control, patient safety systems, and medical records.
Regulatory obligations Each provider is responsible for its own licensing, registrations, notifications, approvals, and other regulatory obligations.
Pricing and billing Each provider determines its own medical fees, billing procedures, refund rules, and additional charges unless clearly stated otherwise.

What an Introduction Means

Relevance is not the same as a medical recommendation

An introduction to a hospital, clinic, physician, laboratory, screening center, or other institution means that the provider may offer services relevant to the patient’s inquiry or may be able to review the requested case.

It does not mean Japan Medical has determined that a particular treatment, test, or procedure is medically appropriate for that patient.

Only an appropriately qualified healthcare professional with sufficient information about the patient can make an individualized medical assessment.

How Providers May Be Identified

Selection can reflect practical patient needs

01

Medical specialty

The provider may offer the specialty, screening service, diagnostic service, or treatment category relevant to the inquiry.

02

International access

The institution may accept international patients or have administrative processes for overseas medical records.

03

Language support

Availability of interpretation, translation, or multilingual coordination may affect practical suitability.

04

Location and timing

Location, scheduling, appointment availability, and travel timing may affect which provider can reasonably handle the request.

05

Administrative fit

Some providers may be better able to review overseas records, accept specific document formats, or coordinate particular services.

06

Network limits

Japan Medical does not represent every healthcare provider in Japan. A provider appearing on this website should not be interpreted as the highest-ranked or best provider in Japan.

Commercial Relationships

A financial relationship may exist

Possible provider fees

Japan Medical may have commercial or coordination relationships with certain healthcare providers and may receive an administrative, coordination, marketing, or referral-related fee depending on the arrangement.

Disclosure principle

Where a financial relationship could reasonably be relevant to a patient’s decision, Japan Medical aims to disclose that relationship appropriately.

No clinical control

A commercial relationship does not give Japan Medical authority over a physician’s clinical judgment and does not guarantee that a patient will be accepted for treatment.

Provider Prices and Japan Medical Fees

Medical charges and coordination fees should stay separate

Provider estimates

Japan Medical may communicate treatment or examination prices supplied by an independent provider. Unless expressly stated otherwise, those medical prices are determined by the provider.

Final medical cost

Treatment costs may change after medical review because of testing, medication, hospitalization, additional procedures, follow-up, complications, or other clinical needs.

Japan Medical services

Where Japan Medical charges for coordination, translation, administrative support, or another non-medical service, that charge should be identified separately from the provider’s medical fees.

No Guarantee of Provider Performance

Independence means no promise of future performance

Japan Medical may perform reasonable administrative checks or review available information before working with a provider, but we cannot guarantee every aspect of an independent provider’s future conduct, staffing, service quality, availability, or clinical outcome.

Before proceeding, patients should review the provider’s own treatment explanation, material risks, alternatives, informed-consent documents, credentials where relevant, pricing, cancellation terms, and follow-up requirements.

Patient Choice and Second Opinions

An introduction does not remove your choice

No obligation to proceed A patient is not required to receive treatment simply because Japan Medical has introduced a provider.
Second opinion Patients may seek another medical opinion before making an important treatment decision.
Alternative provider Patients may contact or choose another institution, including one outside Japan Medical’s network.
Existing doctor Patients may discuss the proposed care with their existing doctor or another qualified healthcare professional.
Decline treatment A patient may decline a proposed treatment or procedure subject to the relevant provider’s administrative and contractual terms.

Questions or Complaints About Medical Care

Clinical complaints belong with the responsible provider

Questions or complaints concerning diagnosis, treatment, clinical procedures, medical staff, medical records, or medical billing should generally be raised directly with the healthcare provider responsible for that service.

Japan Medical may assist with communication where appropriate, but we cannot replace the provider’s formal clinical, billing, privacy, or complaint-handling process.

Third-Party Websites and Information

External links remain independent

External websites

Links to independent provider, public authority, registry, journal, or other third-party websites are provided for reference or convenience.

Third-party content

Japan Medical does not control the content, security, privacy policies, or future availability of independent external websites.

No ownership assumption

Mentioning a provider or linking to its website does not mean Japan Medical owns or medically controls that provider.
